Academic Integrity
Academic integrity is a cornerstone of E-learning and is defined as all actions that assist in preventing fraud, plagiarism, infringement of intellectual property rights and help to avoid academic dishonesty.
In this regard, our responsibility is to support and enhance academic integrity within a framework characterized by spirit of trust, honesty, fairness, and respect, and to support the application of the Academic Honor Code and the implementation of the Academic Integrity Policy.
Forms of Academic Integrity Violation:
There are many forms of breaching the academic integrity principles, including:
- Fraud: it means unauthorized usage of any data and materials in the tasks assigned to the trainees.
- Plagiarism/Literary Theft: it refers to quoting the phrases and works of others, and the unauthorized use of intellectual, literary or any information in any assignment submitted without clarifying that this information mentioned within the content shall be deemed a reference.
- Misuse of assistance: when a trainee exploits his colleague’s work who provides him assistance in good intention, such as transferring from a report drawn up by this colleague or from an old test, without informing him thereof.
- Exploitation of cooperation: the trainee's reliance on another trainee within his group to accomplish an assignment/common work, or the exploitation of another trainee to implement individual tasks.
- Fabrication and forgery: when the trainee changes or fabricates the information available to him in a major assignment or work, or presenting false excuses in order to be absent from attending the training course.
Hence, Mutaaheb Platform and Saudi Red Crescent Authority urge the adoption of academic integrity and avoid violations committed in the educational platform through:
Two-factor authentication when registering on the electronic platform in order to ensure the user identity and avoid impersonation of others.
Limiting the number of answer attempts in the tests to avoid misuse of the educational platform.
Nonappearance of explanation to the trainee in the final exam; as it appears only in the short exams after completing them to ensure that they are fulfilled correctly.
Mechanisms used to prevent fraud:
- Developing exams that combine randomness and fairness, so that the order of presenting the answers could be changed automatically from one trainee to another, without relying on memorization and retrieval, but rather on understanding and comprehension.
- Putting different models of questions in each exam.
Mechanisms used to prevent impersonation:
Some of the mechanisms used to prevent impersonation are as follows:
Verify the user by logging in by one of the following ways:
- Login by using your username and password.
- Login from the unified national access.
Disciplinary Action:
In the event of impersonation or fraud, Mutaaheb Platform and Saudi Red Crescent Authority, after verifying the referred violations, shall be entitled to impose one or more of the following penalties:
- Warning verbally and documenting that via a written undertaking or warning in writing.
- Temporary suspension of the account and deprivation of enjoying the platform services.
- Cancellation of the exam session in cases of fraud.
- Deletion of the account and all its achievements and certificates from the platform.
- Writing a detailed record of all what happened, along with attaching evidence, if any.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of the case.
- Informing the trainee of the disciplinary action before its execution.
